GWCA – 1006: Boundaries, Power, and Healthy Decision-Making in Wifehood
Course Instructor: Rahel Randy
Course Description
Every wife carries a story about power. Some have never been told they have any. Some have had theirs taken away so gradually and so skillfully that they did not notice the loss until they were already far from themselves. Some have given it away piece by piece, an opinion here, a preference there, a need surrendered on Monday and a dream set aside by Friday, until one day they look in the mirror and barely recognize the woman looking back at them. Some are holding so tightly to control that it is slowly strangling the very intimacy they are desperate for. And many are somewhere in the middle, genuinely confused about where their authority begins and ends, uncertain about what they are permitted to want, unsure about what they are allowed to protect, and struggling to make decisions in a marriage without either disappearing entirely into their husband's world or becoming the kind of woman they never wanted to be.
This is the territory of GWCA-1006: Boundaries, Power, and Healthy Decision-Making in Wifehood. This course is one of the most nuanced, most contested, and most urgently needed courses in the entire GWCA curriculum. The reason it is urgently needed is that the world sends wives deeply contradictory messages about all three of its core themes. Culture tells a wife to be selfless and then blames her for losing herself. It tells her to be strong and then punishes her for having a voice. It tells her to submit and then shames her for having no opinions of her own. It tells her to be independent and then judges her for prioritizing herself over her marriage. The result of all these contradictions is a generation of wives who are genuinely uncertain about what healthy boundaries look like, genuinely confused about what legitimate personal power means, and genuinely struggling to make decisions that honor both their marriage and themselves without betraying either.
I want to say something clearly at the start of this course that I want you to carry through every module and every coaching conversation you will ever have in this territory. Boundaries, personal power, and healthy decision-making are not threats to a marriage. They are not the tools of a selfish wife or a difficult woman. They are the conditions under which genuine love, genuine intimacy, and genuine marital partnership become possible. A wife who has no sense of where she ends and her husband begins cannot truly be known by him. A wife who has no voice cannot genuinely contribute to the marriage. A wife who cannot make decisions from her own values cannot build a life she actually chose. These are not philosophical abstractions. These are the concrete, practical foundations of a marriage that is truly alive, and coaching wives in these areas is some of the most important and most transformative work available in this entire profession.
This course will take you through eight modules that cover the full scope of this territory. We begin with a thorough examination of what boundaries actually are, how they function in marriage, and why so many wives struggle to establish and hold them. We then move into the territory of personal power, examining what it means, how it is expressed and suppressed in marital relationships, how power dynamics operate in different kinds of marriages, and how a wife can reclaim her power in ways that serve rather than damage her marriage. We close with a thorough examination of decision-making in the context of wifehood, including what makes decisions healthy or unhealthy in a marital context and the specific frameworks that help wives make decisions they can stand behind with integrity. By the time you complete this course, you will not just understand these topics. You will be equipped with the specific coaching tools to work in this territory with genuine skill, genuine sensitivity, and genuine impact.
